There are many things to do in Boracay, although it is a very small island. You can swim, dive, do island hopping tours, and more. Even only swimming or sunbathing in White Beach makes you feel relaxed.

Millions of foreign and local tourists visit this island every year. Aside from its beauty, there are many options for comfortable accommodation. So, it is one of the best tourism destinations in the world.

Boracay is a very small island in the Visayas island group in the middle part of the Philippines. The longitudinal length of the island is 7 kilometers and its area is approximately 10 km2.

The island consists of 3 main stations; Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3. In fact, all stations are close to each other. You can visit these all stations on foot along with one of the world’s most famous beaches, White Beach.

How to get to Boracay Island?

There are 2 airports close to the island. These are Caticlan Airport and Kalibo Airport. You can fly here from Metro Manila or other cities.

I landed at Caticlan Airport because it is so closer to Boracay Island. In general, flights to Kalibo Airport are kinda cheaper, but when I bought a flight ticket, the prices for both airports were almost the same.

After landing at Caticlan Airport, which is a very small airport, you have to go to the harbor. You can go to the port for 50 pesos by tricycles (3-wheeled motorbike) waiting at the exit of the airport. After arriving at the port, you need to buy a ferry ticket to go to Boracay Island.

It takes about 20-30 minutes to get to Boracay Island by ferry. After you set foot on the island if you can go to your hotel by tricycle or motorbike. Since I only had a backpack, I hired a motorcycle rider and he dropped me off at the hostel where I stayed.

If you land at Kalibo Airport, you have to come to the same port I mentioned above. For transportation to the port from the Kalibo Airport, you need to ride a bus or shuttle service from which Kalibo is a bit far away. It takes about 1 and a half hours to get to the port from the airport. It is the same as I explained for transportation from Caticlan Airport after arriving at the port.

Where to Stay?

Tropical Boracay Island consists of 3 main stations;

Station 1: This is a bit more expensive compared to Station 2 and Station 3. Luxury hotels are more common in this region.

Station 2: Station 2 means the center of the island. Boracay nightlife, restaurants, good places for shopping are always at Station 2. Here you can find accommodation for every budget. Also, if you want to enjoy Boracay nightlife and crazy parties, Station 2 is for you.

Station 3: The island’s calm and peaceful place. If you want to take a quiet Boracay tour, this is the ideal place for you. Also, if you are considering a visa-free honeymoon, staying at Station 3 would be a good choice.

White Beach is on the top of the list of places to visit in Boracay. It is the largest beach on the island. White Beach is like a paradise with its magnificent white sands and deep blue sea.

Even if you do not want to do any activity in Boracay, you can sunbathe on the beach and swim in its unique sea the whole day. On the last day of my stay here, I bought some food from the ‘7 eleven’ and sunbathed on the beach almost all day.

You can see tides are high here. so the waters can recede 20-30 meters. It is also very enjoyable to walk on the wet sands at night after the water has been receded.

In White Beach, Filipino children build sandcastles. They even put the date of that day in front of the sandcastle they built. If you want, you can print your name or whatever you want to write and take a picture. Of course, all this is not free. They are asking you for a “tip” in return for their efforts. That means you need to give money to take a picture.

Many people will approach you there and then sell tours and activities. If you want to do any activity, bargain before making a deal.

I mentioned above, though, but it deserves to be reminded over and over again. This is one of the places where you can watch the most beautiful sunset in the worldDo not miss this unique moment while you are on a holiday here.

  • Willy’s Rock

Willy’s Rock is perhaps one of the most beautiful spots on the island to take pictures. It is an Instagrammable place. You can even go to this cliff on foot after the sea recedes because of tides. So taking a picture at Willy’s Rock one of the best things to do in Boracay.

Besides, you should try freshly squeezed tropical juices and shakes. My favorite is the mango shake.

Nightlife – Things to Do in Boracay at Night

Boracay Island has many good restaurants, bars, cafes, and nightclubs. You can see most of these along the beach. But to be exact, Boracay nightlife is more lively at Station 2. The fire dance shows and live music of some hotels and restaurants in this region that start after dark add color to the night. Also, nightclubs close to the beach are very lively and fun.

Some clubs do not have an entrance fee. Since the bars and nightclubs are close to each other, you can join the ‘Pub Crawl’ event and taste different drinks by visiting most bars. There are lots of people who do this to have fun and also to make new friends.

If you want to have a quiet night, you can buy your drink from the ‘7 eleven’ market and then relax by sitting against the sea in White Beach. It is one of the cheap things to do in Boracay.
